My buddy and I met at Kings College London Dental School in 1993 and became best friends. We studied together with other friends, staying up late into the mornings overdosed on caffeine.
In 1998, we passed our final exams, gained our BDS and Dr titles along the way. Amin gets his first vocational training post in Bournemouth, and I in Essex. We are set free into the big world and end up for the next few years working as associates in mixed practices—enjoying our profession, perfecting our skills, enhancing our knowledge and education, and most importantly, gaining invaluable experience.
As 2002 neared its end, I had truly had enough of being unable to perform the dentistry I had always desired under the constraints of the NHS. I realised that with six years of experience under my belt as a mixed practitioner, I wanted to perform more exciting and challenging dentistry. I decided that it would be so much more fun to be on a journey with a friend rather than alone. One call later to my buddy—who by now had found his passion in surgical and implant dentistry—and we decided it was time to fly the nest.
We searched for the perfect location, and Primrose Hill seemed ideal. Three weeks of searching later, we found 24 Englands Lane. In May 2003, we were handed the keys. With an incredible team, we turned our dream into reality.
The date was 23rd September 2003, and we celebrated the opening of Smile Solutions. We were filled with anxiety, excitement, anticipation, and hope. But above all, our hearts were full of dreams. We set our motto:
Always treat everyone who walks in like you would your own mother and child. Do work that you enjoy, are truly passionate about, and makes you feel proud.
That has been our ethos to this day.
Over the years, our practice expanded into a multidisciplinary clinic. We gradually passed on the wet-handed dentistry baton to our wonderful associates and settled into operational roles, allowing us more time with our families. These dentists have become the new pulse of Smile Solutions. We are incredibly grateful and feel privileged to have found a dream team who share our vision and passion. Their dedication to excellence is unrivalled, and their work speaks for itself across social media.
Of course, none of this would be possible without our dedicated auxiliary staff—nurses, receptionists, managers—who work tirelessly every day to ensure smooth operations. They are integral to everything we do. This also includes our laboratory technicians, who have gone above and beyond, often sacrificing personal time to meet our high standards. Their commitment, care, and reliability have been invaluable, and we cannot express our gratitude enough.
Over the years, it has been an absolute privilege to be part of our patients’ journeys. The true testament to our work is seeing how far our clients continue to travel to see us—even 22 years later—despite relocating to places like Nigeria, Dubai, Kuwait, Italy, Spain, and Switzerland. Your unwavering support, especially in our expansion into facial aesthetics, has been overwhelming. We are truly humbled by your referrals and heartfelt Google reviews.
